We thought you would like to meet the critters that share our home. First, the dogs...

Dakota is a Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog mix. He was born on July 4th, 1998 and is the eldest pack member. He loves to bark & chase squirrels. His nickname is Mr. Black Dog and he responds to it too :) Sadly, I lost him in November of 1999; we think he had a stroke, and he died on the way to the emergency hospital. He was my first 'adult' dog and I miss him each and every day.

Next in age is O'Malley, a Cocker Spaniel. He was a gift to my Mom from us kids. She had always wanted a Cocker, so in 1999, one year before she died, we gave her a wee black & white parti Cocker that was born on January 2, 1999. She so loved this dog! When my father died a few years after my Mom, we inherited O'Malley. Since we've known him his whole life, he fit right into our pack. O'Malley loves to eat ~ food, veggies, fruit, paper, trash, and anything else he can fit in his mouth.

This is Apache, an Alaskan Malamute. Apache is our bully; the one that thinks he is top dog,but he just doesn't have what it takes to be a real leader. He was born on April 5th,1999. In typical Malamute fashion, everything is his whether it is trash or a discarded toy. If another dog wants it, then so does he!

This beautiful dog is Paiute. Pai is a 'fluffy' Mastiff who was born on February 6th, 2001. He is my heart and soul and is the sweetest dog you will ever meet! He loves being a 'foster' brother to the Greyhounds and going to our greyhound play dates. He is a big gentle giant and everyone that meets him just adores him!

This pretty brindle girl is Lexi Liu, a Greyhound. We originally fostered Lexi, but we flunked and kept her. But, who could blame us??? Lexi is just a princess and an all around sweet girl. Lexi was born on September 7th, 2003. She is a retired racing Greyhound and now enjoys a life of luxury ~ as all princesses do! Lexi loves toys and going out to awareness events. She is also our resident squirrel eliminator. Though she is very sweet, she is after all a sighthound and takes her hunting skills quite seriously.

Meet Raven, our other 'fluffy' Mastiff. Raven is Pai's half sister and she has a ton of energy! Raven was born on October 18th, 2003. She adores playing with my nephew Liam and she loves her human family. Raven has a health condition that causes her body to destroy her platelets. This makes things a bit difficult for Raven because when she loses her platelets she will bleed with no chance of clotting. She's not able to safely take the medication that will allow her to produce and keep her platelets, so it's very tricky living with her condition. Raven doesn't really like any other dogs, even her packmates, but that's OK. She has her own room and she plays with her humans instead.

Raven went to the Rainbow Bridge on August 4th, 2010. Not a day goes by that I don't miss that fluffy fuzzy face of hers. She was a challenge to live with, but she loved me unconditionally. I hated being forced to make that choice for her and would love to be able to hug her close once again.

Last of the dogs, but by no means least, is Jessie. Jessie is a very special Greyhound. He is what is known as a 'spook' and is very afraid of things. But, give him lots of time, love, and patience and work at his pace, and you will not find a more special hound! Jessie was born on May 3rd, 2006. Once he feels comfortable, he loves to play and really enjoys stealing my shoes! He is a really fun hound :)

This is Sampson. Sampson found me when I was working at an LTC facility. He was a stray and when we met, it was in a downpour. He was one very soaked kitty! I couldn't leave him to fend for himself, so I took him home with me to my apartment and he's been with me ever since. I found him in 1996, I figure he's about 13 years old now.

This is Festus. Festus isn't really my cat, but he does come home with me on weekends. He lives in the veterinary hospital that I work for, and he is the king of the castle there! All our clients love to greet Festus and he can usually be found laying on the front counter under the lights.

Meet Mulder, my chinchilla. Chinchillas make wonderful pets! Mulder was named after Fox Mulder from one of my favorite TV Shows, the X-Files. Mulder was born on December 23rd, 2005. Some of his favorite things to do are eat raisins, take dust baths, and try to make babies with Pai's fluffy ears. Hehehe.

That about does it for our family! I know, I have quite a few furry family members, but each and every one of them is loved and they make my life so happy. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read about my babies.
